Argentina is set to face Romania on March 5 in Bucharest (Romania) in a friendly match in preparation for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, announced the Argentina Football Federation (AFA).
While local media in Argentina announced two more friendlies at home for Leo Messi’s squad, the Argentina FA only confirmed the match against Romania.
Romania saw its own quest for the World Cup ended following a 1 -1 home-tie against Greece a few weeks ago; the Greeks won the first leg comfortably 3-1.
In playing versus Romania, coach Alejandro Sabella and his Argentine troops will be meeting an opponent with similar playing style to Bosnia, the first team they’ll see in the World Cup.
Argentina finished first place in the CONMEBOL region in the World Cup qualifying stage. The Albicelestes landed on group F where they will face Bosnia (June 15), Iran (June 21) and Nigeria (June 25).
Argentina will be seeking its third World Cup title.
