Having scored seven goals in the previous two outings, the Revolution took the lead early in the contest as Diego Fagundez scored his team-
The 18 year old sensation converted an uncontested shot from the back post after finding a ball from Kelyn Rowe to give the visitors the lead. It was Diego’s second goal in as many matches and Rowe’s seventh assist of the season.
Fagundez then had another chance to score another one in the 6th minute after a great pass from Rowe but Toronto goalkeeper Joe Bendik was able to prevent any further damage by clearing away the danger.
Forward Andrew Wiedeman leveled the score for the home side 1-1 after collecting a pass off a free-kick from the native Canadian defender, Doneil Henry, right before the halftime mark .
As the field condition worsening during the rainy night, both teams had their share of chances but failed to score in the second half.
With two minutes remaining in the match, Steven Caldwell scores what appeared to be the game winner for FC Toronto as his header went past New England Goalkeeper Matt Reis, but referee Fotis Bazakos called off the goal because Caldwell fouled New England defender AJ Soares prior to the play.
Toronto’s head coach Ryan Nelsen stated after the match that his team deserved the win.
“What’s unfortunate is that for 80 minutes of the game the guys were superb,” Declared Nelsen. “I’m more disappointed because I think they really deserved to win and it was kind of taken away from them.”
