FOXBOROUGH, Mass. Chris Pontius scored late in the game to hand the New England Revolution its first home loss of the Season on Saturday afternoon at Gillette Staduim.
New England Revolution was playing without its suspended captain Shalrie Joseph for the first time this season.
New England’s newly acquired Columbian Forward Jose Moreno scored the first goal of the game early in the contest when he received a beautiful cross from teammate Saër Sène from the left wing. Thirteen minutes later, Maicon Santos scored for the visitor from a corner kick by Nick DeLeon assisted by Dwayne Rosario’s marvelous bicycle kick.
The game would remain tied until the 82nd minute when Chris Pontius scored from the left wing to win it for DC united 2-1.
After the game, the Frenchman Saër Sène told haititempo.com that he’s getting acquainted to playing next Jose Moreno who started his first MLS game and also scored the lone goal for the local side. Saër admitts that there are communication issue at times between the two strikers because he speaks french while Moreno speaks Spanish. However, he was very confident they could provide positive results with more playing time together.
