The US men national team will be sporting a brand new uniform at the 2014 FIFA World Cup. On Monday, US Soccer federation and Nike unveiled the home uniform for both the United States men’s and women’s national soccer team.
According to a release by US Soccer:
“The new jersey incorporates a classic white with gray horizontal pinstripes across the body and sleeves. The jersey features a classic white polo shirt collar with red trim. Inside the back of the neck is a blue pennant tab with the 13 stars from the original American flag.”
“The new classic Nike Elite Match Fit socks are also white with strategically cushioned zones to provide comfort and protection. Flex grooves were added to the ankle and the top of the foot.”
“The shirt, shorts and socks all feature fabric made from recycled plastic bottles – 100 percent recycled polyester in the shorts, 96 percent recycled polyester in the shirt and 78 percent in the socks.”
“It’s always an honor to wear the colors of your country, and this summer we will be hard to miss in an all-white look,” said U.S. Men’s National team captain Clint Dempsey. “We will be traveling all over Brazil, and playing in a lot of different conditions, so the innovative Nike designs will serve us well.”
The U.S. Men’s National Team was drawn into Group G along with Ghana, Portugal and Germany for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
