The 29 year old star midfielder Andres Iniesta has agreed to a new deal with FC Barcelona which will keep him at Camp Nou at least through the 2018 season, announced the Catalan club.
The contract carries option for further extensions.
“Iniesta’s extension is confirmed, we have shaken on it and that is enough for us,” said Barcelona president Sandro Rosell.
“I think this is a great Christmas gift for all Barcelona fans.”

The announcement by the club should put an end to all the recent speculations regarding the future of the star midfielder. Iniesta, who is a product of Barcelona’s system, has been linked to other European clubs with Manchester United of the EPL being the most notable one.
Iniesta became the 5th player to be under contract until 2018 with the reigning Liga champions; he joined Sergio Busquets, Cristian Tello, Leo Messi and Neymar Jr.
The financial details of the deal were not revealed by the club.
