The New England Revolution stretched their unbeaten run to five game when they beat their Rival 2-0 Sunday night at Gillette Stadium. The first goal of the game came in the 24th minute when Midfielder Lee Nguyen took a left side pass from from Chris Thierney and converted a 25 yard shot into into his 3rd goal of the season. The New England Revolution had the opportunity to take complete control of the game a minute later when Saer Sene, their leading scorer sent the ball wide of the post.
The Red Bulls struggled without their high profile stars Thierry Henry and Rafael Marquez as they failed to create single a shot in the first half compared to New England’s 9 shot attempts.
Newly acquired international Honduran Forward, Jerry Bengston made his presence felt when he scored in the 84th minute to double the lead for the Revolution.
With the 2-0 Win over the Red Bulls, The revolution are now unbeaten in their last five outing (2-0-3) while the lost extended the Red Bulls’ winless streak at Gillette Stadium to 17 games.
Next, The New England Revolution will host Toronto FC at home to conclude their three game homestand while the Red Bulls will host the Seattle Sounders to start a thee game homestand of their own.
